Chateauneuf du Pape is the most important appellation in the Southern Rhône in terms of quality and diversity. It is also the largest village "Cru" of the Rhône Valley (about 3200Ha).
The Wine takes the name of the village which means "Pope's New Castle" as this was a summer quarter of the Popes during the 14th century. The king of Chateauneuf du Pape is the grape varietal "Grenache" that suits the dry Mediterranean climate but in total it is not less than 13 Grapes that can be used in the Blends.
The wines are usually full bodied, complex and very much appreciated all over the world.
