Avignon - Wine Tour

Avignon is situated in the south of France in the county of Vaucluse part of the Provence region. The city is located at the confluence of la Durance river and the Rhône river. 

The city is nicknamed  the "city of the Popes" because of the presence of the Popes between 1309 and 1423 and is one of the rare city of France to be completely fortified by a wall. The old town is very well preserved and the Popes Palace, the old Rocher des Doms, the famous bridge of Avignon participates to make the city a UNESCO world heritage site and to attracts many visitors every years.

The climate is mediterranean, the summers are hot and dry, the winter are mild, the rainfall is infrequent and snow very rare.

Avignon is also very well known for its famous theater festival which is the largest in the world and take place in July.
